Our residency mission, “Educating Family Physicians through Excellent Patient Care,” reflects our dual role of providing a medical home for continuous, compassionate, and competent health care while developing the clinical skills of resident physicians and preparing them for the challenges of health care.

Responsibilities
Centra is actively seeking an experienced, board‑certified pediatric physician for a full‑time faculty position in an established 9‑9‑9 family medicine residency program.
This role includes 0.6 FTE patient‑facing time and 0.4 FTE faculty/teaching time that is non‑patient‑facing to allow time for overseeing resident academic education and to pursue personal faculty development and scholarly activity.
Responsible for precepting resident physician clinics at LFMR for patients under the age of 18 years, including well‑baby and newborn visits, routine well‑child‑care, chronic disease follow‑ups, and acute care visits. Our residency program serves pediatric patients who have developmental and behavioral health concerns, so this faculty member will role‑model effective coordination of care with pediatric subspecialists.
Assist the program director in maintaining excellence in pediatric education, including overseeing the longitudinal Pediatric Ambulatory curriculum and coordinating with Pediatric Hospitalists to oversee the Inpatient Pediatric curriculum.
Mentor and advise residents after appropriate faculty development in ACGME Family Medicine requirements.
This role is ambulatory focused at LFMR. For candidates also interested in providing inpatient care, we can negotiate additional roles to allow inpatient coverage at Centra.
LFMR faculty maintain clinical appointments with the University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Liberty University School of Osteopathic Medicine.
The primary outpatient clinic is a 28,000‑sq. ft. freestanding facility, specifically designed for the residency program.

Qualifications
Completion of medical degree and ACGME residency training in Pediatric Medicine.
MD/DO/MBBS with certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in Pediatrics or certification eligibility in Pediatrics.
Prior teaching experience required, preferably greater than 3 years of post‑residency teaching experience.
Prior inpatient Pediatric experience valued.
Pediatric attending experience 5 + years.
