Ophthalmologist – Glaucoma Specialist
Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) is seeking a 1.0 FTE Ophthalmology – Glaucoma physician for its Seattle office and regional medical centers. The position is part of the Virginia Mason Medical Center (VMMC) Ophthalmology division, a nationally recognized practice with a strong focus on patient care, research, and education.
Job Summary and Responsibilities The successful candidate will partner with an experienced glaucoma specialist to provide comprehensive glaucoma and cataract services. Clinical duties include clinic work (1–2 days per week at a regional center, 2–3 clinic days per Seattle, and additional operating room days), complex cataract and glaucoma surgery (MIGS, filtering surgery, drainage device placement), and participation in clinical trials and research through the Benaroya Research Institute. The role offers night‑time on‑call duties rotating every eighth week and teaching opportunities with interns and residents.
Qualifications
Board‑eligible (BE) or board‑certified (BC) in Ophthalmology
Fellowship training in Glaucoma is required; 5 years experience preferred
Proficient in MIGS and other glaucoma procedures
State of Washington medical license (or eligibility to obtain)
DEA license with full prescriptive authority
Where You'll Work Seattle, WA – Main office at Virginia Mason Medical Center; occasional work at regional medical centers.
Pay Range $163.28 – $269.03 per hour
