Tax Manager
We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our team. We’re a growing firm serving the East Metro and Western Wisconsin areas, and this role includes a clear path toward partnership for the right person.

Role Summary
Lead and manage multiple tax engagements and staff deliverables
Prepare and review complex individual and business tax returns
Review financial statements and tax planning projections
Research and resolve more complex technical tax issues
Help the firm meet its overall goals by supporting client relationships, staff development, and business development efforts

Key Responsibilities
Meet with prospective clients, help prepare quotes and proposals, and assess client needs as part of business development efforts
Develop, build, and manage relationships with both new and existing clients
Stay involved in professional and community activities and participate in firm-wide marketing efforts
Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, colleagues, firm leadership, and IRS representatives on a variety of tax matters
Support and provide training for new hires and existing staff, including reviewing and evaluating their work
Provide leadership and guidance to staff accountants and seasonal interns
Review individual and business tax returns and assist with tax planning
Review and understand financial documents and statements provided by clients
Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Work effectively in a team environment with partners, managers, and staff
Professionally represent the firm at business and community events
Support staff development and firm growth by helping to develop industry niches in the firm’s services
Required Education & Experience
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
3 years of tax and accounting experience in a CPA firm
Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA certification
Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High level of organization, focus, and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5+ years of tax and accounting experience in a CPA firm
Experience with Drake tax preparation software and QuickBooks Online
CPA exam passed with an active license, or actively working toward passing the CPA exam
Customer-service mindset — proactive, observant, knowledgeable, timely, and reliable
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
Regular use of a keyboard for data entry and document preparation
Pay Range
$70,000 – $100,000 per year , depending on experience and qualifications
