Job Title: UAS Mapping Technician (Drone Pilot + Geospatial Processing)
Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented UAS Mapping Technician to support drone-based surveying and geospatial analytics for large-scale civil infrastructure projects. This individual will lead flight operations and produce high-quality photogrammetry, mapping, and volumetric deliverables for a huge reservoir project and future geospatial engagements.
This position is ideal for someone experienced in both field operations (drone piloting) and post-processing using industry-standard geospatial tools.
Key Responsibilities
A. Flight Operations (UAS Field Work
) Plan and execute drone missions for photogrammetry-based mapping
Operate Wingtra (Gen II or Ray) and/or multirotor platforms
Ensure safe operation under FAA Part 107 guidelines
Maintain visual line of sight (VLOS) at all times
Conduct site assessments and identify flight hazards
Coordinate flight windows with construction teams and site management
Maintain UAV logs, batteries, and equipment readiness
B. Photogrammetry & Data Processing Process aerial imagery using WingtraHub, Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape, or similar
Generate:
Orthomosaics
DSM/DTM terrain models
Point clouds
Contour files
Perform QA/QC checks, including:
RMSE analysis
Ground control point verification (GCP or PPK-based)
Produce volumetric calculations for:
Cut/fill
Stockpiles
Earthwork quantities
C. Geospatial Deliverables Prepare and export data into formats used by surveyors and engineers (GeoTIFF, LAS, SHP, DWG, DXF)
Assemble periodic progress reports for construction oversight
Assist with integration of datasets into SmartInfra Hub dashboards
Maintain organized archives of flight data and processed outputs
D. Communication & Coordination Work closely with project managers, survey teams, and USACE stakeholders
Provide clear documentation of workflows, processing steps, and metadata
Attend occasional field coordination and planning meetings
