Description The Lab Manager oversees all operations of embryology and andrology laboratories across Northwestern’s Fertility and Reproductive Medicine clinics. Responsibilities include staffing, technical procedure execution, quality compliance, equipment maintenance, and data reporting to state and national registries.
Responsibilities
Supervise, train, and evaluate embryology and andrology personnel.
Develop and implement new laboratory procedures and techniques.
Conduct internal competency testing and external proficiency testing of staff.
Maintain patient records and laboratory results for all procedures.
Oversee internal and external data reporting to the SART registry.
Manage laboratory equipment acquisition, maintenance, and supplies.
Respond to critical equipment alarms 24/7; ensure 365‑day uptime.
Oversee laboratory patient electronic medical record generation and billing for embryology and andrology labs.
Qualifications – Required
Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry.
At least 5 years’ experience in a CAP‑accredited laboratory.
At least 5 years’ experience supervising high‑complexity testing and procedures in a reproductive laboratory.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
Qualifications – Preferred
Master’s degree in Biology or Reproductive Physiology.
Board Certification as an Embryology Laboratory Director (American Board of Bioanalysis).
Board Certification as a Technical Supervisor in Embryology and Andrology (American Board of Bioanalysis).
