Role Summary:

The Manager, Strategic Sourcing will report to the U.S. Head of Procurement and be responsible for supporting indirect spend categories. This includes developing and executing sourcing strategies that deliver value by reducing risk, improving quality, and reducing costs. The role leads cross‑functional teams, interfaces with key internal clients, performs market research, devises sourcing strategies, leads supplier selection processes (e.g., competitive bidding, partnership development, consolidation and reducing buying complexity), and negotiates agreements. In addition, the role leads broader category management, including supplier relationship management, by partnering with assigned business units to facilitate supplier performance monitoring, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop sourcing strategies within assigned categories, including analyzing spend, obtaining business requirements, identifying and leading cross‑functional sourcing teams, conducting market research, and creating strategies from due diligence.

Execute sourcing strategies: lead cross‑functional teams, develop and manage implementation plans, negotiate contracts, and transition to business units for implementation.

Manage supplier relationships through KPI development, strategic supplier meetings, and continuous improvement and innovation.

Contract life‑cycle management, database maintenance, market scanning, and risk mitigation planning.

Develop and foster relationships with preferred/critical suppliers to ensure clear communication and agreed contract‑level service, quality, delivery, and cost.

Co‑lead clinical trial budget estimation & validation with clinical operations and Finance.

Deliver day‑to‑day operational excellence, timely execution of POs, supplier add process, and external spend reporting; support transition to new models and systems.

Continuous departmental/category business process improvements and personal development.

Education and Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Quality, Engineering, Education, or related field (MBA preferred).

5+ years’ experience in biotech/pharmaceutical or supply chain.

3+ years in a GMP environment with regulatory knowledge.

Experience negotiating contracts and working in a matrix environment.

Specialized technical expertise in operations, supply chain, biotech/pharma, GMP, sourcing, business acumen.

Strong communication, project management, presentation skills.

Experience driving process improvement and project proposal initiation.

Travel & Location

Hybrid role: 3 days per week in Boston Seaport District.

Expected travel: 0‑10%.
