Senior Project Manager - MD Region (Heavy Civil / Underground Utility Construction Company) Join Spiniello Companies, a privately held, national, full‑service utility contractor founded in 1922. We specialize in open‑cut and specialty pipe rehabilitation and fully self‑perform all project phases. With headquarters in New Jersey and offices in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and California, we provide the expertise and resources to deliver large‑scale civil construction projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

Manage and oversee multiple construction projects while maintaining client relationships.

Monitor and provide guidance on change orders, bid processes, and cost proposals to clients.

Provide senior‑level expertise with project managers to secure favorable pricing and contract terms with subcontractors and material vendors.

Enforce overall Site‑Specific Safety Plan.

Direct and manage project development from beginning to end for multiple projects.

Define and track overall project scope, milestones, and deliverables in collaboration with the project team and end user.

Develop, manage and schedule internal staff for all phases of construction as it pertains to Spiniello jobs.

Ensure corporate policies, procedures and ethical standards are followed by project managers and engineers.

Assist with the hiring and recruiting of Project Managers and Engineers.

Provide overall communication to senior‑level leadership on project expectations and objectives.

Communicate and meet as needed with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.

Plan necessary resources to achieve project goals.

Oversee the preparation of Project Cost Reporting.

Proactively oversee changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.

Maintain overall responsibility for safety, quality and budget for projects.

Conduct periodic reviews of project status reports to ensure work adheres to contract specifications.

Lead and direct others, including subcontractors, to maintain project standards.

Effectively communicate corporate information to the project team and keep project files organized.

Supervise work of project administration, superintendents, and engineers to establish operational priorities and maintain satisfactory relationships.

Establish and promote values, expectations, and performance standards for team members in accordance with Spiniello’s mission, vision, and values.

Oversee the overall management of the project management team—resources, schedule, and cost tracking—to ensure solutions are delivered on time and within budget.

Engage with Purchasing and Fleet departments to set up major equipment and project needs.

Build, develop, and grow customer relationships vital to Spiniello’s success.

Oversee project reviews and develop lessons‑learned summaries to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or comparable experience.

Strong Civil Construction, Trenchless Technologies and Underground Utility experience.

Experienced in reading drawings, takeoffs, and detailed specification understanding.

Familiar with local, state and federal municipalities and agencies.

Experience in managing multiple large complex construction projects.

Thorough understanding of construction accounting.

Minimum of 10‑15 years of project experience in Civil Construction/Underground Utility Construction.

Familiar with deep excavations, drainage, water, sewer, trenchless technologies and other civil construction scopes.

Creativity and innovation to provide innovative solutions.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interact and collaborate at all levels.

Excellent team‑building skills with effective communication.

Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Working knowledge of Sage Timberline and HCSS.

Flexibility to travel and work after hours, nights and weekends as project demands require.

Strong prioritization and organizational skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication.

Passion for the work and industry; independent with strong leadership skills.

Knowledge of alternative delivery methods (Design/Build, CMAR, etc.) a plus.
