The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO)

for the College of Engineering serves as the head fundraiser, leading all development, alumni relations, and donor‑experience activities. The CAO creates and directs the strategy to identify, develop, and maintain a robust donor pipeline through strategic direction of a large professional team. The role manages a personal portfolio of major and principal level prospects, aligns fundraising priorities with the college’s strategic vision, and partners with college leadership to advance a culture of philanthropy. The CAO reports to the Associate Vice President of Development and is based in Columbus, Ohio, requiring flexible hours and frequent travel. Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the development team to build a robust donor pipeline, including prospect strategy sessions and resource advocacy. Recruit, train, evaluate, and coach staff; set performance goals, provide feedback, and ensure resources are available. Align fundraising priorities with the Dean’s vision and build relationships with college and advancement leadership to secure high‑impact prospects. Serve as prospect manager for major donors ($500,000+), leading cultivation and solicitation of leadership and principal gifts ($1,000,000+). Act as a key fundraising leader across the college, completing additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 12+ years of professional fundraising experience, including alumni and donor relations. 5+ years of management experience. Desired Qualifications

12+ years of fundraising experience with high‑level philanthropic gifts (preferably six‑ and seven‑figure). 12+ years in a complex higher‑education environment. Experience overseeing alumni and donor relations, stewardship, and strategic direction of multiple teams. Seven years of management experience. Additional Information

The Oxford Office of Advancement offers tools and resources to learn university‑specific processes and advancement practices. The position is a standby role per Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17. The offer will be based on internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications. Location
