Hourly, Full-time 32-35 hours a week, $24-27 an hour based on experience

Position Summary:

Feed Iowa First is seeking an experienced and motivated Development Director to lead and expand our fundraising and donor engagement efforts. The Development Director will play a key role in advancing the organization’s mission to provide equitable access to fresh, locally grown food across Iowa. This position requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in fundraising and securing large gifts, relationship‑building, and donor stewardship, who can work collaboratively to secure resources that sustain and grow our programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies focused on (but not limited to) individual giving. Will also include administration and maintenance of corporate partnerships, foundation grants, and special events.

Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with new donors. Increase giving within current donor base.

Assistance and administration for current projects and grants.

Manage Donor Perfect software and maintain immaculate records of donors, including administration, data entry, and reporting.

Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events and campaigns (in conjunction with the Executive Director) that align with the organization’s mission and goals.

Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop long‑term development goals and strategies.

Serve as a spokesperson and storyteller for the organization, effectively communicating Feed Iowa First’s impact, vision, and needs to diverse audiences in community settings.

Support and empower team members, volunteers, and board members to participate in fundraising activities.

Assist in marketing efforts, including the development of fundraising resources and tools. Work with marketing and communications team on messaging.

Assist in financial administration support, including working with the bookkeeper, Executive Director and the board on ensuring clean financial records.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or a related role.

Proven success in securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with our team, board members, volunteers, and community partners.

Passion for Feed Iowa First’s mission and commitment to food equity and community development.

Experience with donor management software and fundraising platforms preferred.
