Accounting Technician 3 (PCN 064012) Department of Health – State of Alaska

Responsibilities As an Accounting Technician 3, you will support the Accountant 3 in maintaining the fiscal integrity of Alaska’s Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS), also known as Alaska Health Enterprise (AHE). Your duties include:

Weekly reconciliations of complex financial transactions between AHE and the Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS).

Technical verification and resolution of discrepancies across various accounts and ledgers.

In‑depth financial research and analysis to ensure proper posting and compliance.

Maintain accurate and efficient financial operations for the $2.2 billion Medical Assistance Program budget.

Qualifications

Attention to Detail – thorough and conscientious.

Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving – logical, systematic, and data‑driven.

Financial Analysis – knowledge of forecasting, modeling, and interpreting financial data.

Adaptability – manage multiple demands and priorities in a changing environment.

Computer Skills – proficiency with accounting software, databases, and automated systems.

Required Experience • Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, with at least one year at the full‑proficiency level.

Substitutions:

Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college – substitutes one year of required experience (non‑full‑proficiency).

Post‑secondary education (accredited) – substitutes up to one year of required experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.

Post‑secondary education (accredited) – substitutes the required two years of experience if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above a 200‑level Accounting course.

Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration (accredited) – substitutes the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above a 200‑level Accounting course.
