Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriter Director – Construction Professional Liability

Zurich North America is seeking an experienced executive underwriter or AVP, Underwriter Director to join our Specialties Construction team. The position may be filled at any Zurich office location; remote hiring is at the sole discretion of the Hiring Manager. As a key member of Zurich’s Underwriting Team, you will handle complex new and renewal domestic Construction Professional Liability accounts and serve as a subject‑matter expert. You will develop relationships with brokers and distributors, support sales culture, and seek new account opportunities. Responsibilities

Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules. Develop, maintain and collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business‑related needs. Provide guidance to lower‑level associates. Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and acquisition. Serve as a help point for agents, brokers and customers, supporting the sales culture. Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities. Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities. Qualify accounts to align with the organization’s appetite and sound business opportunity. Make broker/customer and on‑site calls with a clearly defined purpose. Basic Qualifications – Executive Underwriter Level

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing area. High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support area. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing area. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support area. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience delivering quotes under time restraints for new and renewal business. Experience working in a team environment. Basic Qualifications – AVP, Underwriting Director Level

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7+ years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing area. High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support area. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 5+ years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing area. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 12+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support area. Experience with Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications (Both Levels)

Bachelor’s Degree. Technical knowledge of Construction Professional Liability underwriting. Established broker relationships (retail brokers). Sales execution mindset. Creative problem‑solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Compensation

The combined salary range for this position is $98,500.00 – $215,000.00. The Executive Underwriter range is $98,500.00 – $165,000.00 with a 15% short‑term incentive bonus eligibility. The AVP, Underwriter Director range is $130,000.00 – $215,000.00 with a 20% short‑term incentive bonus eligibility. Benefits
