Job Description Actalent is seeking a skilled Failure Analysis Engineer to identify and address the top failure modes of PCBs across various products. The role involves collaborative efforts with multiple departments to ensure root causes are identified and effective countermeasures are implemented. The engineer will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, analysis technicians, and Quality Assurance teams to enhance product reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

Identify and analyze the top failure modes of PCBs for each product.

Collaborate with other departments to determine root causes and implement countermeasures.

Work with Manufacturing Engineering and analysis technicians to integrate failure root cause information into the Manufacturing Execution System.

Collaborate with Quality Assurance to troubleshoot field returns.

Create Pareto charts to drive improvement activities within the department.

Develop analysis tools for new products.

Assist in the development and training of analysis technicians.

Essential Skills

Expertise in failure analysis and troubleshooting.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Over 5 years of experience in designing, providing test solutions, or performing failure and root cause analysis for electrical PCBs.

Thorough understanding of electrical PCB test methods (In-Circuit, Functional PCB, Embedded, System Level).

Expert understanding of factory operations including SMT and Quality Assurance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Familiarity with setting up analysis troubleshooting procedures, equipment, and methods.

Knowledge of defect and corrective action reporting (Pareto charts, yield reports, etc.).

Experience with the creation of fault tree analysis flowcharts and troubleshooting procedures.

Work Environment You will work in a collaborative and dynamic environment, utilizing advanced technologies and equipment to address and improve PCB reliability. The role requires a strong understanding of factory operations, and you will engage with cross‑functional teams to foster innovation and continuous improvement.

Job Type & Location Contract position based out of Carlsbad, CA.

Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.50 - $60.77 per hour.
