The role of Project Designer/Engineer is a strong technical designer that can work independently to take portions of a project from start to finish. They ensure that projects are designed and documented according to the parameters set by the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Technical Design

Works independently to take portions of a project from start to finish based on direction from the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.

Performs routine code review and analysis.

Performs routine design calculations for sprinkler/fire alarm systems.

Follows design standards set by the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.

Researches and presents fire protection system design options to the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.

Follows company master design standards.

Ensures that the QA/QC process is followed and documented.

Develops a working knowledge of all system types within their discipline.

Develops knowledge of current design trends and best practices.

Training

Directs less experienced technical staff in how to perform routine design tasks and routine calculations.

Trains less experienced staff how to use master design tools and standards.

Requirements Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited university or college or a two‑year associate’s degree with 5 years related experience required.

At least 3‑6 years of related fire alarm or fire protection systems design experience.

Proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD.

Proficient in design software tools.

Microsoft Office Suite of products.

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Ability to climb a ladder at a job site.

Salary Range:

$74,800‑$105,500 annually.

Individual employee compensation is determined with a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, knowledge, skills, geography, and performance. Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
