Position Overview As a Manager, Electrical Engineering, you will manage junior engineers in the electrical engineering group focused on renewable generation. You will primarily lead engineering teams in designing renewable generation collection systems and associated HV substation engineering, from conceptual design through detailed design completion. Your role also includes strategic planning, resource allocation, and process development to support the reliability and efficiency of our renewable projects.
Responsibilities
Manage 2–3 junior engineers, providing guidance on design, construction, and project implementation.
Conduct regular team meetings, supervise projects, and perform performance reviews.
Ensure team and departmental goals are met.
Support the Electrical Engineering Director and upper management with strategic and resource planning.
Develop and maintain standard designs, processes, and procedures within Electrical Engineering.
Implement industry best practices and lessons learned within the team.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry technology.
Assist in new project development by analyzing conceptual designs and RFQ specifications.
Review conceptual designs for compliance with owner and interconnection requirements.
Conduct thorough design reviews of electrical deliverables (drawings, specifications, studies) for DC and AC collection systems, energy storage, and HV substations.
Define scope and review results of electrical system studies.
Track design schedules, update stakeholders, and ensure critical deadlines are met.
Provide procurement technical support: specifications, vendor evaluations, RFPs, shop drawings, factory visits, and FAT inspections.
Coordinate with operations engineering during design reviews.
Monitor construction progress remotely and via on-site inspections, supporting resolution of field issues.
Attend on‑site meetings with electrical contractors and interconnection utilities.
Minimum Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering or related degree.
Knowledge of power systems, ideally through coursework, experience, or internships.
6+ years of relevant work experience.
Experience managing a diverse team.
Experience with HV/MV electrical infrastructure (substations, switchyards, distribution systems, transmission lines, transformers) and their construction.
Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects with various teams concurrently.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Some travel required (up to 15%).
Valid driver’s license.
Eligible to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship (now or in the future).
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree or Professional Engineering license.
Experience managing and building multi‑disciplined engineering teams.
Experience with HV/MV electrical equipment in renewable energy.
Practical experience in construction of HV electrical systems and renewable energy construction.
Base Pay USD $130,000.00 – $160,000.00 per year.
Bonus & Benefits Annual bonus potential: 25% – 40% of base salary. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and other company benefits.
