Job Description The Associate Director of Finance oversees accurate revenue recognition for BD’s Medication Management Solutions (MMS) business, aligns with U.S. GAAP, and leads the transition from legacy to modern monetization models.

Roles include month‑end close for a ~$2.7B USD portfolio, revenue recognition guidance across regions, and leadership on special projects.

Job Responsibilities

Provide expert guidance on complex revenue accounting matters, ensuring alignment with U.S. GAAP and corporate policies.

Partner with Corporate Accounting and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Conduct technical accounting research and prepare documentation on revenue recognition issues.

Review and assess complex transactions and account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with internal controls.

Lead implementation of new revenue recognition standards and evolving monetization models.

Establish consistent revenue recognition policies across all platforms and business units.

Adapt to financial systems, including SAP, interpreting source documentation.

Apply accounting principles, financial close processes, internal controls, and statement prep to daily operations.

Design and optimize accounting workflows to improve efficiency in revenue tracking and reporting.

Support project‑related initiatives, such as system upgrades and process improvements.

Own SOX compliance for revenue recognition, including testing and coordination with auditors.

Collaborate cross‑functionally to provide accounting and finance support to business partners.

Serve as subject matter expert on technical accounting questions and emerging issues.

Provide leadership within the Revenue Recognition team, driving process, system, and organizational improvements.

Mentor direct reports, offering guidance to broader finance and accounting teams.

Education & Experience Required

Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics; CPA required.

10+ years progressive finance experience, combining corporate and public accounting within mid‑to‑large organizations.

Strong expertise in ASC 606/IFRS 15 and managing large‑scale revenue portfolios.

Knowledge & Skills Required

Strong knowledge of financial principles and internal controls.

Proven ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, cross‑functional organization.

Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder‑management skills, capable of addressing C‑suite level audiences.

Advanced financial modeling and project management capabilities.

Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel).

Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, SAP‑BPC.

Preferred Qualifications

Industry experience in MedTech and SaaS (software, hardware, consumer‑focused).

Prior SaaS revenue recognition experience is a strong asset.

Employment Conditions Principal work location: San Diego, CA. In‑office presence of at least 4 days per week is required for most roles. Remote or field‑based arrangements are noted in the posting.
