Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.
7 years of experience leading technical project strategy and ML design, and optimizing industry-scale ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, model serving, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
5 years of experience with design and architecture, and testing/launching software products.
5 years of experience with genAI techniques (e.g., LLMs, multimodal, large vision models) or with genAI-related concepts (language modeling, computer vision).
Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, a technical related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
Experience contributing to or building developer tools, frameworks, or infrastructure.
Familiarity with Vertex AI or other ML platforms.

Our GenAI Infrastructure team is part of Google’s Core Machine Learning (ML) organization and at the forefront of defining and building Google’s future in AI-assisted software development. We are building the platform to integrate genAI-based technologies into Google’s suite of consumer-facing products. Our mission is to empower developers and researchers with genAI enablement tools, driving innovation and unlocking the potential of ML across applications.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
Build a high-performing genAI platform for first-party developers to apply ML (multi-agent systems, prompt engineering, model optimization, etc.) into emerging and existing consumer products.
Update ML API features to support the new capabilities of Gemini, Imagen, Veo, and other LLMs.
Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., Google Deepmind, Google Labs, Search, Vertex, etc.) to ensure we deliver a highly available, performant, and secure platform that scales globally.
Drive the technical strategy in an ambiguous and rapidly evolving domain, making high-impact decisions that will shape how developers build, debug, and deploy genAI applications.
