Job Summary Program Supervisors oversee the practicum for individual students in the School Library Teacher concentration by following the Candidate Assessment of Performance (CAP) process established by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Program Supervisor is the primary liaison between Simmons University and the Teacher Candidate, as well as between the University and the Supervising Practitioner.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the CAP process as outlined in the CAP Guidelines and other documentation provided by DESE.

Provide the candidate with robust and equitable guidance and support, including high-quality feedback that improves their practice.

Support the supervising practitioner to provide the candidate with robust and equitable guidance and support and complete all required components of the CAP process.

Collaborate with the candidate and supervising practitioner to collect, synthesize, and analyze evidence from multiple sources, including observations, a measure of student learning, student feedback, a professional practice goal, and candidate artifacts.

Facilitate all Three-Way Meetings with the supervising practitioner and candidate.

Conduct at least two announced observations of the candidate.

Calibrate with the supervising practitioner using multiple sources of evidence to determine the candidate's readiness to teach.

Complete and submit all required CAP forms.

Support the candidate to ensure the practicum placement is appropriate and supportive of their growth and development.

Collaborate with the supervising practitioner and Simmons University to identify appropriate, differentiated supports if the candidate is not on track to meet expectations.

Provide feedback to Simmons University on their experience as a program supervisor.

Meet at least four times with the Teacher Candidate and Supervising Practitioner, including two on-site visits, each semester. Maintain contact between meetings as needed.

Compensation $853 per student. This is a non-benefits eligible position.
