Senior Engineer – Banking, Payments, and Reporting

Overview Vend is a vertically integrated hardware and software startup leveraging AI, computer vision, and automation to redefine how buildings operate, starting with parking. By digitizing access, payments, and operations, we turn parking into a first‑class mobility vertical and create a marketplace for services such as EV charging, micromobility, and auto repair.
Opportunity This role gives you the chance to architect and launch our v5 platform, building a greenfield Banking as a Service (BaaS) system while enhancing our Payments as a Service (PaaS) and Financial/Operational Reporting infrastructure. You’ll work across the full stack—modern front‑end frameworks, backend APIs, and data pipelines—owning mission‑critical systems that directly power revenue, banking flows, and business intelligence.
Role
Architect and implement backend and frontend systems for the v5 platform, focusing on banking, payments, and reporting.
Design scalable payment solutions using Stripe Connect, Stripe Billing, Stripe Treasury, and automation tools like Autumn or Polar.
Integrate Banking as a Service via Stripe Treasury for secure, compliant financial flows.
Build comprehensive reporting for operational and financial metrics using DBT and Snowflake Dynamic Tables.
Own data strategy and architecture for ELT/ETL pipelines, warehousing, and analytics in Snowflake.
Develop rich data visualizations embedded in the Command Center dashboard with security and governance.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to ensure high‑quality deliverables.
Drive AI/ML initiatives both internally and in product using tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Vercel’s AI SDK.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, design, and develop scalable full‑stack solutions for banking, payments, and reporting.
Implement secure, strongly‑typed TypeScript APIs and services.
Manage data pipelines from ingestion to modeling for Snowflake, DBT, and related systems.
Leverage AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Vercel AI SDK) and build RAG‑based agents.
Maintain high standards for code quality, system design, and documentation.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering culture.
Expertise & Skills
Full‑Stack TypeScript mastery—advanced type features and strong typing across APIs and front‑end.
Payments & Banking—deep Stripe expertise (Connect, Billing, Treasury) and fintech integration experience.
Data Architecture—Snowflake, Fivetran/Airbyte, DBT, data modeling, and analytics tools.
Front‑end—React, Vite, Tailwind, shadcnUI, static site generation.
Back‑end—ConvexDB, Bun runtime, Turborepo monorepo management.
Auth & Security—Clerk/BetterAuth/WorkOS, Permit.io for RBAC/ReBAC.
DevOps & Observability—Axiom logging, PostHog analytics, Twilio, Resend, MDM tools.
AI/ML—building with LLMs, RAG pipelines, Vercel AI SDK; machine learning/computer vision a plus.
