About the Role As Vice President of Engineering, you will oversee Product Development, shape engineering vision, and build a world‑class team and culture. You report to the EVP of Technology & Engineering.
Primary Job Responsibilities Technical Strategy & Vision
Set the technical direction and drive execution for PitchBook’s engineering organization.
Lead architectural modernization initiatives.
Evaluate and introduce emerging technologies.
Organizational Leadership & People Development
Lead, mentor, and grow a global team of 200+ engineers and technical leaders.
Foster an inclusive, high‑performing culture built on trust, accountability, and continuous learning.
Build clear career paths and leadership frameworks.
Operational Excellence
Maintain a high bar for software quality, delivery speed, and platform reliability.
Drive adoption of best practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and modern cloud‑native development.
Use data and metrics to guide decisions and continuously improve.
Cross‑Functional Partnership
Partner closely with Product Management and Design leaders.
Work with senior leaders across the business to align technology investments.
Synergize with Software Architecture, Technology Operations, and AI/ML teams.
Model PitchBook’s leadership principles.
Skills And Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
15+ years of experience in software engineering, with 7+ years leading large, distributed engineering organizations.
Proven track record of delivering and scaling complex SaaS or data/analytics platforms.
Deep technical expertise in modern software development (microservices, cloud‑native, DevOps, continuous delivery).
Demonstrated success leading organizational transformation.
Recognized for building high‑trust, high‑performance teams.
Exceptional communication and storytelling skills.
Experience in financial data, analytics, or capital markets technology is strongly preferred.
Analytical, data‑driven, and strategic thinker.
Empathetic, authentic, and inspirational leader.
Technical & Architectural Leadership
Cloud‑Native Expertise: GCP, Kubernetes, and AWS.
Modern Application Architecture: Java Spring Boot microservices, React/TypeScript MFEs.
Architectural Governance: Well‑Architected Framework, BFF patterns, microservice decomposition.
Event‑Driven Systems: Kafka.
Data & AI Strategy: PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Redis, Elasticsearch, Langchain, Pinecone, Sagemaker, Vertex AI, Kubeflow.
API & Integration: REST, gRPC, GraphQL, Kong, Apigee.
Strategic & Organizational Leadership
Domain‑Driven Design and Team Topologies.
Platform Engineering: adoption of golden paths.
DevOps & GitOps: GitLab CI, ArgoCD, Terraform.
Reliability & Security: SRE practices, Zero Trust, Okta, Auth0, Vault, Cloudflare.
Observability: ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry.
Business & Change Leadership: FinOps, product thinking.

Annual base salary: $300,000-$350,000.
Target annual bonus: 30% of base.
Working Conditions This role is expected to be in the office 5 days a week. PC and phone usage throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required.
