Job Description WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Project Manager and Structural Engineering Assistant Vice President for our Transportation Team in our Minneapolis, MN office.
This Opportunity Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for multi‑site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, improvement, and/or construction of building and infrastructure projects in the public and private sector. Responsibilities include research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of load‑bearing structures or structural elements such as buildings, bridges, roadways, and mechanical structures. Provides situational guidance to engineers and other managers that address current and future challenges, and that documentation and recommendations accurately account for and address risk, innovation, and future‑ready opportunities. Provides leadership by ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead design, plan development tasks and perform structural analysis and design with a concentration on highway structures
Actively maintain project scope, design changes and project budget and schedule while assigned to projects
Mentor, train and develop junior staff and others performing similar work
Provide close coordination with others on the project as well as independent QC/QA reviews
Visit clients for business development and keep team members informed of upcoming opportunities
Represent WSP at targeted professional society meetings, including presenting at conferences as appropriate and approved
And other duties as assigned
Who You Are Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in Minnesota and ability to acquire in other states
10+ years’ experience in bridge engineering
Past experience leading a department or a project team
Strong technical skills in structural analysis, data collection, and design of various types of bridge structures
Accustomed to working in a team environment on challenging projects and leading design teams in delivering high quality projects
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Engineering or higher education
40‑Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred
Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired
