Job Function The Managing Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) provides strategic and operational leadership over the NCAA’s enterprise budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long‑range planning. Reporting to the

Vice President of Finance & Administrative Operations

and working in close partnership with the

Vice President of Accounting & Controllership , this position oversees the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the NCAA’s financial strategy.

Job Responsibilities

Develop and articulate the organization’s financial strategy, including budgeting, forecasting, long‑term planning, and scenario modeling.

Lead, mentor, and develop FP&A team members; facilitate regular staff meetings, one‑on‑ones, and performance discussions.

Partner with Information Technology to optimize planning and forecasting systems (Domo/EPM), enhance self‑service dashboards, and strengthen data accessibility.

Build strong working relationships with all NCAA departments to drive understanding of financial drivers and budgeting processes.

Establish inter‑departmental forecasting and budgeting cadence through review sessions, office hours, and trainings.

Oversee enterprise financial analysis, modeling, scenario planning, and internal reporting to deliver visibility and insight.

Provide recommendations on scenario planning, cost optimization, and strategic financial decisions.

Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and governance structures that support a scalable FP&A function.

Partner with departments to evaluate business plans, assess financial impacts of initiatives, and advise on viability and risk.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis, trend insights, and scenario implications.

Champion the modernization of financial reporting, automation of routine processes, and real‑time data insights.

Lead FP&A contributions to cross‑functional transformation initiatives such as system upgrades and tools modernization.

Lead financial data governance to ensure data quality, ownership, and change management.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible financial experience in corporate, government, consulting, or intercollegiate athletics/business operations.

Expertise in financial modeling, scenario planning, forecasting, and decision support.

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial management principles.

Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and deliver meaningful insights that drive decisions.

Strong understanding of source system data and how to leverage it for problem solving and managerial reporting.

Preferred experience with Oracle ERP and Oracle EPM; familiarity with Snowflake, Domo, or similar systems.

Proven experience supporting or leading financial transformations or modernization efforts.

Excellent executive‑level communication skills, including written narratives and presentation materials.

Other Requirements

Estimated travel 20% or less.

Position is based at the national office in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Hybrid work environment: currently three days in office, two days remote.
