Join StubHub’s Direct Issuance team as a Software Engineer I, where you’ll help build and operate systems that synchronize partner ticket inventory with StubHub’s marketplace. You’ll contribute to production systems that support millions of ticket buyers and thousands of partners, while developing your skills alongside Staff Engineers (the highest individual contributor role on the team), Senior Engineers, and Software Engineer II peers. Location:

Hybrid (3 days in office/2 days remote) – Aliso Viejo, CA or Santa Monica, CA What You’ll Do:

Contribute to Backend Systems – Implement features, enhancements, and bug fixes in backend services that support partner inventory synchronization and marketplace publishing, under the guidance of senior and staff engineers. Learn and Apply Distributed Systems Concepts – Gain exposure to event‑driven architectures, APIs, and data processing pipelines by working on real production systems at scale. Write High‑Quality Code – Produce readable, well‑tested, and maintainable code that follows established team patterns and best practices. Collaborate Across the Team – Participate in code reviews, design discussions, pairing sessions, and day‑to‑day collaboration with engineers at multiple experience levels. Support Partner and Developer Experience – Assist in improving partner‑facing APIs, error handling, and internal tooling to make integrations more reliable and easier to understand. Build Operational Awareness – Learn how to diagnose issues, use logging and monitoring tools, and understand how changes impact system behavior in production. Use AI‑Assisted Development Tools – Be exposed to AI‑powered tools and workflows (such as Claude or similar technologies) to support debugging, learning, and developer productivity. What We’re Looking For:

Early‑Career Software Engineer

– A recent graduate or engineer with up to ~2 years of professional experience, including internships, co‑ops, or substantial academic projects. Strong Technical Fundamentals

– Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and core computer science concepts. Backend Development Exposure

– Familiarity with at least one programming language commonly used for backend development (e.g., Java, Python, Go, or similar), and basic experience building or consuming APIs. Ability to Learn in a Team Environment

– Comfortable receiving feedback from multiple engineers and learning through collaboration and iteration. Curiosity and Growth Mindset

– Demonstrated eagerness to learn, ask questions, and improve technical and problem‑solving skills. Attention to Quality

– Appreciation for testing, documentation, and writing code that is clear, reliable, and maintainable. What You’ll Get:
