Senior Trial Counsel
Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated attorney who is passionate about public service to join her office as Senior Trial Counsel in the Privacy and Responsible Technology Division (PRTD). The Division, part of the Attorney General’s Public Protection and Advocacy Bureau, investigates and litigates cutting‑edge issues in emerging innovations. The Division works to address unfair or deceptive use of consumer data, maintain data security and privacy, and address technologies that may manipulate consumers, including youth.
Primary Duties
- Oversee, strategize, and pursue litigation and investigations surrounding data security, data privacy, and online or digital abuses, including misrepresentations concerning artificial intelligence or machine learning, and dark patterns that manipulate or exploit users.
- Lead investigations and enforcement actions independently.
- Assist other Attorneys General in their investigations and litigation matters.
- Learn new industries and technologies, collaborate with other state and federal enforcement entities.
- Negotiate resolutions that serve the public interest.
- Contribute to the development and growth of all staff in the Privacy & Responsible Technologies Division and, at times, assist with high‑profile litigation or investigations across the Office.
Position Type
Full‑Time / Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.

Qualifications
- Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar or eligible for admission in short order.
- At least seven (7) years of complex litigation experience, including motion practice, discovery, handling expert witnesses, and trial, preferred.
- Familiarity with Massachusetts consumer protection laws and data security laws, preferred.
- Clear and persuasive written and oral communication skills and legal research capabilities.
- Effective organizational skills, time management abilities, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and collaborate on differing matters in a fast‑paced environment with teams of varying experience levels and skill sets.
- Sound and thoughtful judgment and decision-making skills.
- Willingness to learn and explain complex technology concepts to courts, juries, or the public.
- Applicants must be Massachusetts bar‑eligible at the time of application and must apply for admission before their start date.
- Candidates who are not yet admitted may be hired as ‘Counsel’ and must be admitted to the Massachusetts Bar within one year of their start date.
