Overview
Senior Consultant | Procurement | Global Corporate Business Travel at Northern Trust. This role focuses on sourcing, contract management, supplier relationship management, and analytical reporting for global corporate travel programs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver excellence in sourcing with travel-related vendors, including developing category sourcing strategies, analyzing data, and leading RFx processes (RFI, RFP/RFQ), pricing discussions, and negotiations.
- Review, draft, and manage required legal documents (e.g., NDA, Master Agreement, Exhibits) and ensure timely submission into TCM, followed by management of supplier adherence to contract terms.
- Manage regulatory and compliance requirements and drive vendor relationship management for all travel vendors in accordance with the Northern Trust Supplier Relationship Management program and Vendor Management Practice Standards. Include managing relationships with preferred global commercial card provider, global travel agency, and regional travel vendors.
- Ensure preferred vendors deliver high service levels, handle customer service inquiries, and assist in monitoring SLA and the annual global Business Plan, projects, and deliverables.
- Support policy development and governance of the Corporate Travel Policy and Corporate Card Policy, and how they integrate with the Corporate Expense Policy.
- Assist in governance of Corporate Purchasing Card and Corporate Meeting Card guidelines and procedures and their integration with the Corporate Expense Policy.
- Co-manage calculation and reporting of Travel category annual savings per project in the designated savings tool.
- Engage with internal clients at all levels to foster relationships, deliver high-quality work, and provide timely customer service.
- Provide CFOs, business leaders, and senior executives with data, analytics, and reports to enable sound decision making (global travel and card metrics, KPI trends, compliance monitoring, etc.).
- Develop and deliver presentations to senior management and facilitate discussions to reach decisions with global impact.
- Execute complex activities with significant financial and/or internal business impact.
- Serve as a corporate travel subject matter expert to internal clients and mentor to junior staff. May co-manage daily operational activities without being a formal manager.
- Solve complex problems and apply judgment based on multiple sources of information.
- Work within broad guidelines and policies, and influence outcomes across teams.
Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of business travel management, including account management and travel operations, to enable effective contract and supplier management and problem solving.
- Technical proficiency in corporate travel sourcing, negotiations, and understanding of travel contract terms to minimize risk.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships across functions, organizations, and suppliers/vendors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interactions and presentations at all levels.
- Experience in fast-paced environments with competing priorities; strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Project management skills; financial acumen and analytical skills for travel data/metrics and cost-saving recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and related tools.
- In-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in the job discipline; awareness of market competition; ability to explain complex information and build consensus.
Experience
- B.A. or B.S. in business, finance, or supply chain and/or related corporate travel management/travel industry work experience.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in a corporate business travel/meetings environment.
- Ability to act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and lead key projects with risk and resource management considerations.
Salary Range
$95,600 - 162,400 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accidental insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. A discretionary bonus program may include an equity component.
