Assistant General Counsel Cyber
The ideal candidate for this role in AIG’s Data, Digital and Cyber Legal Group will be a strategy-oriented attorney who embraces a dynamic advisory practice. You will craft legal solutions that protect AIG from a complex set of risks presented by cutting edge cybersecurity, privacy, and data issues, while simultaneously moving AIG’s business forward.
Responsibilities
- Advising on legal, regulatory, and contractual issues regarding cybersecurity, privacy, and data governance issues across AIG’s Americas regions.
- Drafting and maintaining cybersecurity and privacy contract templates and assisting in contract negotiations with, vendors, and partners.
- Supporting incident response and investigation matters, ensuring compliance with applicable law.
- Identifying and analyzing new laws, regulations, and industry best practices in the cybersecurity, privacy, and data areas, and working with cross-functional teams to implement necessary governance and controls.
- Developing and supporting initiatives to enhance and mature cybersecurity, privacy, and data governance practices across AIG; and
- Serving as a thought leader in the community on specialized legal and regulatory topics for internal and external stakeholders, including industry groups.
Qualifications
- Have a J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school and license to practice law.
- Have 5+ years of experience as an attorney.
- Have experience either in-house, at a law firm, law enforcement, or governmental agency advising on legal and regulatory issues around cybersecurity, privacy, and data (GLBA, HIPAA, CCPA, NYDFS).
- Have excellent drafting and communication skills.
- Be collaborative, nimble, responsive, and customer-focused.
- CIPP-US Certification preferred.
- Government agency experience preferred.
For roles in New York, the base salary range for this position is $136,000-$170,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
