Overview
Associate General Counsel, Real Estate — Tulane University.
The Associate General Counsel for Real Estate and Business Transactions will work closely with the Deputy General Counsel for Real Estate and Business Transactions advising the University on legal rights, obligations and privileges regarding real estate, construction and renovation, and corporate and business transactions.
The position requires a collaborative, detail-oriented and deadline-driven person with excellent written, analytical, and verbal communication skills, as well as relevant and deep legal knowledge and experience. The role will proactively identify and mitigate legal risk to protect the organization from undue legal exposure, liability and financial loss, while counseling and facilitating the achievement of strategic and operational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel on real estate, construction/renovation, and related corporate and business transactions.
- Advise on legal rights, obligations, and privileges of the University in real estate and related matters.
- Collaborate with the Deputy General Counsel for Real Estate and Business Transactions to identify and mitigate legal risks and protect the University from exposure, liability and financial loss.
- Support strategic and operational objectives through proactive legal guidance and risk assessment.

- Excellent written communication skills; ability to present complex legal principles in clear terms to senior administrators.
- Executive presence and strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong work ethic, self-starter, ability to manage deadlines.
Education And/or Experience
- J.D. Degree from an accredited law school.
- Current license to practice law in Louisiana.
- Licensed in good standing without suspension, revocation, censure or adverse events.
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a real estate, construction, and capital projects attorney.
