Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key strategic partner to the President and senior leadership team, with full responsibility for the financial leadership of the business unit. This role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, drives operational efficiency, supports growth initiatives (organic and M&A), and ensures alignment with corporate financial standards and KPIs. The CFO will lead finance, accounting, and administrative functions while partnering closely with operations to drive profitability, accountability, and long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
Serve as a strategic advisor to the President and leadership team on financial planning, performance, and organizational strategy.
Lead long-term financial modeling, forecasting, and annual budgeting processes.
Identify opportunities to improve margins, strengthen cash flow, and enhance operational efficiencies.
Support strategic initiatives including pricing strategy, contract structures, and service line profitability.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Oversee timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting in accordance with corporate standards.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax, regulatory, and audit requirements.
Develop and manage KPIs and dashboards to monitor performance across service, projects, installation, and maintenance operations.
Accounting Operations
Lead all accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, job costing, WIP reporting, and general ledger management.
Strengthen internal controls, processes, and documentation.
Manage working capital, cash flow, and billing cycles to ensure strong liquidity and financial discipline.
Operational Partnership of CFO:
Partner closely with service, construction, and project leaders to understand job performance, backlog, and profitability drivers.
Provide actionable financial insights to help optimize labor utilization, material costs, subcontractor usage, and project execution.
Conduct margin analysis, review change orders, oversee WIP schedules, and ensure accurate job costing and revenue recognition.
Business Growth & M&A
Support integration efforts for new branches or acquisitions within the business unit.
Assist with financial due diligence and evaluation of potential acquisition targets, as needed.
Develop scalable financial frameworks and reporting structures to support continued growth.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team; build a high-performing, service-oriented department.
Provide training and guidance to promote accuracy, efficiency, and strong business partnership.
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within HVAC, mechanical contracting, facilities services, construction, or other project- or service-based industries.
Experience in a roll-up, multi-entity, or private-equity-backed environment strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, revenue recognition, and service versus project margin dynamics.
Proven ability to partner with operations and influence data-driven decision-making.
Hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic vision and detailed execution.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present effectively to corporate leadership and field-based teams. #INDEC2025
