Summary The Accounting Manager oversees accounting department functions with a focus on the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. This role manages the general accounting team and oversees Accounts Payable (AP) to ensure processes, controls, and performance are operating effectively. The Accounting Manager leads the monthly close process, strengthens internal controls, and drives process improvements and automation within NetSuite. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including close calendar management, task coordination, and review of deliverables. Prepare and/or review journal entries, accruals, allocations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness. Ensure timely and accurate financial statements and management reporting; provide variance/flux explanations and support as needed. Maintain balance sheet integrity through timely account reconciliations, documentation standards, and follow-up on reconciling items. Accounting Operations Oversight Manage the staff and operations of the accounting department; ensure team members are trained, supervised, and supported to perform required functions. Oversee the AP function by ensuring: invoice processing is timely and accurate, coding and approvals are compliant with policy, payment runs are executed with appropriate controls and approvals, vendor inquiries and escalations are resolved efficiently. Partner with the AP owner/lead to improve AP workflows, reduce cycle time, and prevent errors (duplicates, miscodes, late payments). Manage and support Senior Accountants responsible for inventory management, general accounting, and banking with a focus on process improvements. Coordinate and support quarterly physical inventories, including counting procedures, costing considerations, and reconciliation of differences. Provide oversight of bank reconciliations and ensure clearing accounts and reconciling items are resolved timely. Controls, Audit, and Policy Governance Implement and maintain internal controls and safeguards for company assets; ensure compliance with documentation and approval requirements. Lead the creation and maintenance of documented accounting policies, procedures, and close playbooks. Coordinate support for outside audits and third‑party requests, ensuring clean audit trails and timely responses. Process Improvement & NetSuite Optimization Maintain a constant focus on process optimization and the use of technology to reduce redundant workflows. Improve departmental efficiency by establishing/monitoring KPIs (close timeliness, reconciliation on‑time rate, AP aging/cycle time, accuracy metrics) and driving corrective actions. Serve as a key NetSuite user for accounting operations: improve reporting (saved searches/reports), strengthen coding accuracy, and support enhancements to workflows/approvals. Competencies & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; Master’s degree and/or CPA a plus 8+ years of progressive career growth in accounting, prior experience as a Manager preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality Strong attention to detail and accuracy Hands‑on self‑starter with a sense of urgency and continuous improvement mindset. Strong communication and ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
