The Opportunity
IREX is seeking a forward‑thinking Deputy Project Director & Senior Technical Advisor to help lead high‑impact cybersecurity and digital resilience programs around the world.
In this role, you will drive day‑to‑day project operations, provide hands‑on technical guidance, and mentor beneficiaries delivering cybersecurity assistance to civil society organizations, government partners, and vulnerable communities. You’ll ensure that technical strategies are actionable, context‑specific, and aligned with project vision.
What You’ll Do
Lead project planning, timelines, budgeting, and execution.
Oversee field operations and provide direct technical assistance to beneficiaries.
Manage and mentor staff and consultants to ensure high‑quality service delivery.
Collaborate closely with the Senior Technical Advisor, Project Director, and key partners.
Translate complex cybersecurity strategies into clear guidance for diverse audiences.
Build and maintain strong relationships with beneficiaries, donors, and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with IREX, donor, and local government requirements.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information systems, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
3+ years leading cybersecurity or technical programs, ideally in international development or humanitarian contexts.
5+ years total relevant career experience.
Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
In‑depth understanding of at least one cybersecurity framework, including CIS CSC, NIST SP 800‑53/171, ISO 27001, or SAFETAG.
Hands‑on experience conducting risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and technical reporting.
Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams while managing multiple priorities.
Experience guiding organizations through cybersecurity assessments and field‑based implementation.
Clear, concise executive reporting skills.
Nice to Have
Experience with the Microsoft security ecosystem: Managed and optimized the end‑to‑end Microsoft security ecosystem (Defender XDR, Intune, Sentinel/KQL), leading daily Security Operations, incident response, and vulnerability management.
