Director of Student Financial Services at The University of Saint Joseph
Under the direction of the Director of Student Financial Services, this position is responsible for supporting and managing compliant, efficient daily operations, services and programs of the Student Financial Services Office. The Associate Director coordinates the development and implementation of the technical aspects of the financial aid process that support processing and disbursement of external and internal sources of financial aid. In addition to providing support and backup to the Director, the Associate Director provides counsel and guidance to students and families in a broad range of financial programs and services including traditional financial aid, alternative financing, and payment plans in order to support the enrollment and retention of Undergraduate and Graduate students. Approximately 60% percent of the position’s responsibilities involve providing technical and auxiliary support services, and 40% percent involves direct customer service support.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead administrator for the Office of Student Financial Services in the absence of the Director
- Oversee, maintain, and process data management workflow between the University’s student information system (SIS), Jenzabar, and the financial aid database, PowerFAIDS.
- Work with staff and campus partners to improve efficiencies within all functional areas by using technology to provide systematic solutions to problems and enhancement of existing processes
- Assist the Director with the administration of compliant financial aid programs in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. Continuously develop, implement and maintain multiple levels of proactive internal quality control mechanisms to ensure compliance.
- Serve as the University’s Loan Officer managing all Federal and Private student loan programs including certification, origination, disbursement, and reconciliation.
- Coordinate the processing and disbursement of Federal Title IV, state, private and institutional financial aid.

- Oversee the financial aid process for the University’s non-standard term programs, including modular programs and programs employing borrower based academic years.
- Maintenance, and develop and maintain general campus financial aid and financial literacy outreach.
- Assist the Director in facilitating the coordination and communication between respective University departments as they relate to Student Financial Service's role in creating a positive educational experience for students. Integrate efforts to maximize SFS’s role in recruitment and retention.
- Assist the Director in overseeing an effective and comprehensive student financial aid counseling program which maintains relationships with students, parents, faculty, advisors, and university administration to provide an avenue for students to seek assistance when needed
- Conduct full-service financial aid counseling to assist students with a long-term financing plan to pay for the cost of their degree. Collect and review required documentation, create financial aid packages, and perform federal verification for assigned population.
- Manage the TEACH Grant program
- Oversee the development and implementation of a financial literacy and communication program, utilizing staff and other institutional resources, which may include collaborating with on-campus and external partners.
- Monitor and complete all R2T4 calculations.
- Assist the Director with monthly and annual reporting requirements
- Plan and conduct presentations, seminars, and/or workshops for students. Represent the Office of Student Financial Services at recruitment events, information sessions, and career fairs.
- Assist Director with staff and student worker training and supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Two to three years’ minimum experience with financial aid processes, financial aid/scholarship programs required.
- Familiarity with PowerFAIDS and Jenzabar preferred.
