Position Summary

In this demanding and team-oriented role, the successful Candidate will have the opportunity to develop professional skills by assuming progressively increasing responsibility for various legal, regulatory and compliance activities involving Claims administration for the General and Personal Insurance lines of business.

Performance Objectives

  • Provide legal advice to General and Personal Insurance Claims groups in connection with their respective claims.
  • Stay abreast of changes to laws and regulations impacting the various Claims groups and provide legal advice to the Claims groups on regulatory changes, including drafting monthly regulatory bulletins and ad hoc communications.
  • Assist the General and Personal Insurance Groups with state compliance and regulatory matters, including market conduct examinations.
  • Maintain governance and proactive management of the various Claims company licenses, including filing license applications and renewals with state regulators.
  • Review various state reporting requirements and providing guidance and counsel relating to reporting obligations and responding to regulatory data calls.
  • Review various state adjuster licensing requirements and providing guidance and counsel to General and Personal Insurance Claims relating to licensing obligations.
  • Review and revise draft responses to Department of Insurance consumer complaints.
  • Review and respond to subpoenas.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Should Have

  • Minimum of 3+ years of legal or relevant claims adjusting experience; prior insurance regulatory or transactional experience a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrates a high degree of initiative.
  • Exercises sound judgment. Detailed-oriented. Strong analytical reasoning and problem solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills. Strong computer or systems skills a plus.
  • JD required – Admitted to a US Bar.
