Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you manage accounting, finance, and facilities for Prisma Community Care. You provide guidance and leadership in finance, including managing cash flow, overseeing weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual accounting tasks, coordinating reimbursement requests to federal, state and county funders, serving as audit liaison, acting as liaison to the Treasurer and Finance Committee, managing facilities, and implementing process and technology improvements. You will oversee the Accounting Manager, Director of Facilities & IT, and the Senior Grants & Contract Manager.

What your day will look like at Prisma Community Care

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements, including reforecasting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and update the cash flow forecast.
  • Responsible for timely preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to management and Board of Directors.
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, medical billing, deposits and reconciliations.
  • Track data and provide financial analyses, including operating costs, trends, of all organization operations.
  • Oversee preparation of the annual financial audit, single audit and Form 990.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, performance standards and internal controls relating to accounting/legal, cash management, and investments, as well as all federal, state and local regulations.
  • Act as staff liaison to the Treasurer and Finance/Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare any other financial reports as requested by the CEO.
  • Supervise all accounting personnel and contractors.
  • Monitor all necessary regulations concerning 501(c)(3) status.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate financial and operational risks to safeguard the organization’s assets.
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to evaluate strategic initiatives, capital projects, funding opportunities, and long-term sustainability. Provide scenario analysis and data‑driven insights to guide decision‑making.

Administrative / Facilities

  • Recommend, develop, and implement improved methods and procedures for organization‑wide operations, internal controls, performance standards, and metrics.
  • Maintain all fiscal and HR historical records.
  • Ensure procedures are followed for the purchasing function and inventory control.
  • Manage organization and building insurance policies, claims and procedures.
  • Oversee building operations and needs.

Grants

  • Oversee fiscal relationships with government, foundation, and other funders.
  • Oversee the strategy and planning of grant cycles to ensure the flow of funding.
  • Provide oversight of grant budgets and applications.

Additional Projects

  • Ensure internal controls have been implemented to prevent significant deficiencies and material weaknesses in the audit.
  • Finalize and implement financial policies and procedures manual.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
  • Minimum five years’ professional experience in non‑profit finance.
  • Administration, management, and supervision experience.
  • CEO experience at a nonprofit organization required to have a single audit (formerly A‑133 audit).
  • Experience working with state, federal and county funders, including documenting contract expense, time and effort, and reimbursement requests.
  • High level proficiency with accounting software.
  • High level proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with culturally diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or Masters Degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Experience with insurance billing.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Work primarily in a climate‑controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Office environment, exposure to computer screens for lengthy periods of time.
  • May require evening and occasional weekend work.
  • Regularly required to walk, sit, stand; use hands, talk and hear; occasionally reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • May require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending or crawling.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.

Compliance Requirements

  • Must have, or be able to obtain within 90 days of employment, a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain within 7 days of employment, a current flu vaccination.
  • Must have, or be able to initiate within 7 days of employment, a TB test or screening.
