About the Role As part of our estimating team, you will work with experienced professionals to help best position BAE Systems as an industry front runner. If you are detail-oriented and adaptive, we are currently looking for an Estimating Manager to assume a lead role. The Estimating Manager will oversee the estimating process across multiple departments in the shipyard, from initial identification and estimation to execution and performance evaluation. This role will work closely with multiple teams daily. The successful candidate will be a key team member responsible for helping the Senior Leadership team meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost goals.

As a Estimating Manager You Will:

Lead a team of experienced estimating professionals in the development of large competitive proposals for the repair and maintenance of naval and commercial vessels.

Work closely with senior shipyard leadership to determine accurate pricing strategies and run historical comparisons on past work.

Actively participate in business strategy to ensure reaching yearly financial targets.

Monitor the timely and accurate completion of large repair and maintenance proposals.

Ensure proposal compliance to Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).

Perform data analytics to leverage historical performance alongside bottoms‑up estimating to develop accurate spec‑based estimates.

Minimum Education Required High School/GED

Additional Qualifications / Responsibilities

Demonstrated problem solving and in‑depth data driven analytical skills.

Typically 8 years of experience with a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related work experience.

Working knowledge of defense contracting.

Working knowledge of the FAR, specifically as it relates to Proposal submissions and contracting.

Experience bidding various defense contract types, FFP, CPFF, CPAF, etc.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Demonstrated ability to communicate data with other functions in an accurate, concise, and understandable manner.

Strong interpersonal skills to influence and lead a diverse team of professionals.

Ability to prioritize and self‑manage a multi‑tasked workload in a fast paced environment.

Ability to make decisions with sound judgment while complying with policies and procedures.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Experience with Ship Repair or Ship Building.

Experience with Navy contracts.

Understanding of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).

Experience in ProPricer, Cost Point, SAP, or Cognos.

Ability to interpret specifications and drawing references to inform labor estimate positions.

Experience utilizing AI to develop estimate positions.

Graduate Degree.

Pay Information Full‑Time Salary Range: $116,419 - $197,912
