$58,584.00 - $78,912.00 Yearly. The salary does not include an on-site 24/7 facility 5% premium. Employees working in King County receive 5% premium.

We have an opening at Echo Glen Children's Center in Snoqualmie, and at Green Hill School in Chehalis.

The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is looking for Program Specialist 3 to provide clinical leadership and specialized mental health program services for young people demonstrating emotional, cognitive and/or behavioral disorders in a juvenile rehabilitation treatment program.

The Opportunity You will provide behavioral assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and case management services in a multi-disciplinary outpatient setting, and consultation and education to program personnel. Provide prescribed treatment, maintain case records, participate in data collection and research, and perform case management functions. This position is a member of the JR Division of Clinical Programs, and functions under the direct supervision of the supervisor, under the guidance and direction of the DBT Clinical Program Manager, in collaboration with the facility clinical leaders (Psychologist 4, SUD PS5).

Some of what you'll do

Provide in-person individual counseling based on established standards of DBT.

Co‑lead DBT skills training with program staff.

Support the skills development of program staff who assist with groups.

Provide behavioral case management and counseling support.

Conduct interviews and administer/interpret screens tools and assessments to determine risk, required level of care/supervision, and referral for services.

Support Residential Counselors and other program personnel regarding the execution of treatment plans and support the Environmental Adherence of the residential program.

Coordinate with interdisciplinary clinicians, family members, agency staff, community partners, and Reentry Team members to support case management, reentry processes, and continuity of care.

Provide documentation, session recordings, and direct observations as required to demonstrate and maintain DBT-model fidelity.

Maintain safety, recognize and assess problem situations, and intervene to maintain order within a secure juvenile justice treatment milieu.

Supervise and assign chores within a living unit to meet health and hygiene standards.

Model pro‑social adaptive behavior.

Required Qualifications

Six years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing counseling services to clients from diverse backgrounds with complex needs.

OR

Associates Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or a related field, AND four years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing counseling services to clients from diverse backgrounds with complex needs.

OR

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or a related field, AND two years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing counseling services to clients from diverse backgrounds with complex needs.

AND

The ability to take action to learn and grow.

The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following

Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of principles, skills and practice of DBT, or functionally similar cognitive behavioral therapies.

Professional experience with cognitive behavioral interventions in a social services or treatment setting.

Demonstrated knowledge and skill with assessment and treatment applications of best‑practice principles and strategies associated with trauma‑informed and culturally responsive treatment (CRT), social learning theory, and mindfulness‑based practices.

Able to develop, convey, and maintain a positive, proactive and professional image to employees and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to use technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, quality, and communication of clinical work.

Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and personal insight concerning racial justice, system inequity, disparities and disproportionality in legal systems, and the post‑traumatic impact of racial discrimination.

Demonstrated knowledge and ability to coach and support others. Skilled in supporting staff development, conflict resolution and team cohesion.
