Registered Nurse (RN) Manager – Med‑Surg & ICU

Job Description The RN Manager is responsible for providing clinical leadership, operational oversight, and administrative management for the Med‑Surg (8W) and ICU units. This role ensures high‑quality, safe, and compliant patient care while supporting nursing staff and meeting organizational goals within a mandatory float facility.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical and administrative leadership for Med‑Surg and nursing units in an acute care hospital setting.
Oversee daily unit operations, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure optimal patient care and regulatory compliance.
Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff, including charge nurses and bedside RNs.
Ensure adherence to hospital policies, evidence‑based practices, infection control, and patient safety standards.
Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and hospital leadership to improve patient outcomes and unit performance.
Monitor quality metrics, patient satisfaction, and implement performance improvement initiatives.
Manage mandatory floating within scope to meet facility and patient care needs.
Participate in weekend coverage (2 weekends per month / every other weekend) and provide leadership support as required.
Ensure accurate documentation and compliance using Cerner EMR.
Required Qualifications
BSN required.
5 years of acute care nursing experience.
3 years of ICU experience as a Nurse Supervisor and/or Nurse Manager.
Active RN license (pending license not accepted).
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
Ability to lead in a fast‑paced, unionized, mandatory float environment.
Guaranteed hours: 40 hours/week.
Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only).
Charting system: Cerner.
Scrubs: Navy Blue (not provided).
