Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards for all age groups from neonate to geriatric. Maintains performance improvement activities within the hospital and assures competency of all nursing personnel. Assists in budget formulation and maintains efficient departmental operations while complying with all state, federal, and local regulations, laws, standards, and protocols. Directs the training and instruction of nursing staff. He/she reports to the Regional Director of Operations/Chief Operations Officer. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Knows and practices the prescribed philosophy, purpose, policies, and standards of Nursing/Patient Care Services. Organizes, directs, and administers Nursing/Patient Care Services to meet current medical and nursing standards. Plans and coordinates with the CFO and nursing leadership for budgeting requirements for personnel, supplies, and equipment. Responsible for cost controls to ensure maximum effectiveness of funds from approved departmental budgets. Supports and develops Nursing/Patient Care Services in staff selection, performance evaluations, and staff development. Maintains continuing quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluates patient care delivery, communicating with Administration on issues. Plans and recommends new services or equipment, or modifications, to provide patient care. Recommends and participates in education services, programs, and training, including employee orientation and professional advancement opportunities. Recommends modification, addition, or deletion of personnel policies to ensure reasonable hours and acceptable working conditions. Initiates and participates in problem‑solving and policy‑forming conferences for Nursing/Patient Care Services. Ensures cordial relationships with patients, families, clergy, community groups, education system, volunteer groups, and agencies. Participates in policy decisions affecting Nursing/Patient Care Services in the hospital. Participates in the Administrative Counsel, Governing Board, and Medical Executive Staff Meetings. Responsible for implementation, monitoring and evaluation of performance improvement and QIC. Coordinates special projects and provides leadership for special projects. Education & Experience

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; master’s degree in nursing or related field preferred. Minimum of three to five years’ experience in patient care services management required. Critical Care Nursing experience preferred. Demonstrated leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal relationships, and application of sound administrative principles. Valid, current RN licensure in the State of Texas. Maintains clinical credentials and competencies to work clinically. Completes annual education requirements. Adheres to dress code, neat appearance. Maintains patient confidentiality. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Maintains regulatory requirements including all state, federal, and local regulations. Represents the organization positively and professionally. Complies with all organizational policies and standards regarding ethical business practices. Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the organization. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Attends designated committees and management meetings as appropriate. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, and infection control. Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directives to personnel and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions. Language / Math / Reasoning Ability

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write general correspondence and effectively present information to managers, clients, customers, and the public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry. Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills
