Position Overview Dorsey's Patent Group is seeking an associate in Salt Lake City, Denver, Minneapolis, Seattle, or Boise with two to seven years of patent experience and a technical background in mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, or chemical engineering/chemistry. The role is part of an exceptional team of attorneys, agents, paralegals, and business professionals servicing a wide array of clients, from large multinational corporations to entrepreneurs and innovative startups.

Responsibilities

Manage an active docket of patent prosecution matters, including drafting applications and advancing all phases of domestic and foreign prosecution.

Provide counsel to clients on patent strategy.

Conduct searches and prepare patentability, invalidity, and non‑infringement opinions.

Support litigation and transactional practices where required.

Qualifications

USPTO bar admission and admission to the Utah, Colorado, Minnesota, Washington, or Idaho bar.

Two to seven years of patent attorney or agent experience.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering/Chemistry, or an equivalent field.

Strong academic performance and writing ability.

Portfolio management experience.
