Description Leidos is seeking a

Deputy Chief Engineer

who will be a lead member of a dynamic team who will be working on the Federal Aviation Administration's Terminal Flight Data Management (TFDM) program. TFDM is a system that will improve aircraft runway and terminal congestion. Nationwide congestion is increasing, and the need for efficient aircraft traffic planning is critical. TFDM is the surface management solution that will provide NextGen Air Traffic Control capabilities to improve air traffic operations in the National Airspace System (NAS).

This is a HYBRID role

(3 in office, 2 from home); location options: Atlantic City, NJ; Gaithersburg, MD; or Eagan, MN

Responsibilities Working both as a member of a team and independently the successful candidate will:

Optimizing the experience for the flying public, Air Traffic Control, and the airline industry by improving the collaboration and decision‑making capabilities of flight controllers

Deputy Chief Engineer - Helping to lead the programmatic schedule execution of an accelerated deployment to FAA centers.

Collaborate with customers on driving activities

Work directly with Engineering and Program Leadership, to identify functional, usability and performance deficiencies and provide recommendations for improvements

Define overall program plan; with simultaneous builds and deployments

Able to resolve complex issues across orgs

Able to understand System Level Requirements

Provide guidance to test team and ensure team goals are appropriately set to meet all program milestones

Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 9+ years of professional experience; or a Master's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 7+ years of professional experience

Ability to obtain an SF-85P Public Trust clearance from the FAA customer.

Experience leading and directing activities of a team

Experience in following a documented Integration and Test Development Process

Experience in the use of UNIX and Linux operating systems

Strong integration skills with hands‑on experience integrating large software complex systems

Strong communication skills to interface with internal and external customers

Desired Skills

A good academic understanding and/or exposure to system engineering practices to contribute to and/or assist with system integration, requirements engineering, operational and decision analysis, systems definition, requirements baseline control and management.

Highly organized, demonstrating the ability to work independently at times due to fast‑paced and highly productive work environment

Air Traffic Knowledge and experience working on Air Traffic programs

Pay Range Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
