Job Description
The primary function of the Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate, and update patient information.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understand and execute all physicians' orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
- Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are 100% correct against scripts.
- Package specimens for transport and store samples at the required temperature.
- Follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 2+ years of recent phlebotomist experience.
- Experience with blood draws from geriatric to pediatric patients.
- Proficiency in straight needle venipuncture.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Specimen collection and processing experience.
- Phlebotomy certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
Work Environment
This role is based at a facility in Dacula, GA, with training at a different location. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with rotating weekend shifts. The work environment is a large organization with multiple locations across Georgia, offering continued opportunities for growth.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dacula, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
