We are seeking a skilled and proficient Phlebotomist who is experienced in blood collection through venipuncture and capillary techniques from patients across all age groups. The role involves working with pediatric patients under the supervision of the lab supervisor and team lead. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety, with the ability to communicate these principles effectively to others.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood collection using venipuncture and capillary techniques for patients of all age groups, including pediatric and difficult draws.
- Provide orientation and training for patient service technicians.
- Communicate the importance of compliance and safety to fellow employees.
- Work with pediatric patients, ensuring a compassionate and efficient approach.
- Travel to multiple Medical Office Building labs throughout South Orange County.
Essential Skills
- At least six months of experience in an acute or sub-acute setting, with a preference for one year.
- Experience in neonatal and pediatric blood draws.
- Excellent venipuncture skills; prior experience must be substantial.
- Ability to draw 45-55 patients in an outpatient setting within an 8-hour shift.
- Capability to draw 20-30 patients in an inpatient hospital setting within an 8-hour shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- CPT 1 License.
- Computer proficiency, including experience with lab systems such as Cerner.
- Customer service skills.
- Hospital experience is a plus.
- Experience in outpatient settings like LabCorp or Quest is required.
Work Environment
The role involves working in high-volume Medical Office Buildings (clinics) and eventually transitioning to the main lab in a hospital setting. Shifts are flexible, with availability needed between 6 AM to 11 PM every day of the week. The work environment is dynamic and requires excellent attendance and behavior. Dress code is business casual.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
