Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
- Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment.
- Update patient information as required.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
- Understand and execute all physicians' orders accurately.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
- Ensure 100% accuracy of test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
- Package specimens for transport, ensuring integrity during transit.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Respond to telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.
Essential Skills
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with pediatric and geriatric draws.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood draw techniques.
Work Environment
This position is a first-shift, Monday-Friday schedule.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gurnee, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
