Director of Project Management & Preconstruction
We're seeking an experienced and hands‑on Director of Project Management & Preconstruction to lead our project management, estimating, and preconstruction teams, from concept through closeout while developing talent, optimizing processes, and collaborating closely with clients and internal teams.
Responsibilities
Lead, and train project managers, estimators, and preconstruction staff to success
Coordinate and align internal activities by establishing priorities, assigning responsibilities based on project requirements and team members' skill sets; lead project planning, bidding, budgeting, and execution
Build customer relationships and collaborate with cross‑functional teams including design, sales, shops, and field construction
Ensure quality, safety, and profitability across all projects; help manage schedules, deviations, subcontractor relations, etc.
Oversee estimating and construction progress, with a focus on budget adherence and quality standards
Ensure accurate, competitive, and professional preparation and presentation of bids, proposals, contracts, and project plans
Monitor project financials, negotiate and understand contracts; address cost projections, change orders, requisition reviews, and risk reporting
Drive team development and individual performance through coaching, setting KPI measures, and mentoring
Qualifications
Bachelor's in construction management, project management, civil engineering, or a related field
7+ years progressive experience in preconstruction, project management, and estimating
5+ years of directly leading, managing, and setting metrics for cross‑functional team members
Strong skills in estimating, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, contract interpretation, and risk management
PMP strongly preferred or ability to obtain after hire
OSHA‑10 certification
LEED accreditation, field experience, and design‑build background preferred
Experience with tools like Procore, MS Project, and ERP systems
Positive and solution‑oriented, with a steady approach to ambiguity, challenges, and daily demands
Customer‑focused, building strong internal and external relationships
