Responsibilities
Represent clients facing misdemeanor and felony charges in state and federal courts in Colorado.
Conduct thorough legal research to support defense strategies and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors and work toward the best possible outcome for our clients.
Prepare for and attend court proceedings, including arraignments, pretrial hearings, trial proceedings, and sentencing hearings.
Conduct depositions of witnesses and experts, and gather evidence to support our clients' defense.
Provide mediation services to resolve disputes and avoid trial when possible.
Manage case files and maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed of the progress of their cases.
Utilize critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to navigate complex legal issues and challenges.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in the State of Colorado.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a trial attorney, specifically in criminal defense.
Proficient in legal research and writing, with a strong understanding of criminal law and court procedures.
Demonstrated experience in managing a large caseload and effectively negotiating plea agreements.
Proven trial experience, with the ability to think critically and solve problems under pressure.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual candidates are highly preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, prosecutors, and court personnel.
Superior organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
