Job Summary: As part of Cat Digital’s Technical Product Management team you will be a part of creating the next generation of digital solutions to enable enterprise growth initiatives ranging from eCommerce, equipment rental applications to artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. The work this team is delivering has a direct impact on the strategic Caterpillar initiatives to build a better World.

What You Will Do: The Product Manager’s primary task is to adhere to the Product Roadmap and manage Product Backlog to ensure consistent delivery within priorities of each Product. The Product Manager is empowered to make all decisions regarding the Product Backlog.

Responsible for maximizing the value of the product and the work of the Engineering

Responsible for acting as Product Manager for larger, more complex projects with high value to the organization

Responsible for creating, maintaining and prioritizing the Product Backlog according to business value for the life of the project

Communicate Product Backlog priorities to the team

Act as the key decision-maker regarding what features the product will have

Responsible for conveying product vision to the team

Owns definition of acceptance criteria for product features

Work closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization

Responsible for making decisions on release dates and content

Represent the requestor, interfacing and engaging with the requestor

Compile and communicate schedules and costs to stakeholders and requestors

Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.

What You Will Have:

Business Analysis:

Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking:

Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Effective Communications:

Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Software Change Management:

Knowledge of software change management; ability to manage software product change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff.

Software Engineering:

Knowledge of software engineering; ability to deliver new or enhanced fee-based software products.

Basic Qualifications

Previous Product Management experience in software engineering

Domain expertise in business applications, IoT platforms, data analytics, or API commercialization

Experience managing projects using Agile software tools such as, Azure Devops, JIRA

Product Manager/Product Owner certification

Experience working with onshore/offshore team model

Demonstrated leadership on medium to large-scale projects in a complex matrix organization

Additional Details

This position requires the candidate to be based in either Chicago, IL ; Peoria, IL or Dallas, TX
