Responsibilities
Develop advanced waveguide architectures for immersive display applications, optimizing performance metrics such as efficiency, uniformity, and field of view.
Create optical system concepts that balance engineering constraints with end‑user visual comfort and usability.
Investigate how material properties, fabrication techniques, and structural design choices influence optical functionality.
Refine design models through comparison with experimental characterization data and drive iterative improvements.
Collaborate closely with simulation engineers to enhance internal tools and modeling workflows.
Work with characterization and hardware integration teams to translate optical performance requirements into manufacturable solutions.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
4+ years of hands‑on experience designing optical components or systems for wearable or near‑eye display applications.
Solid foundation in waveguide optics, including diffractive elements and light coupling techniques.
Preferred
Experience with numerical modeling methods such as RCWA, FDTD, and ray‑tracing, and familiarity with common simulation environments (e.g., VirtualLab, Zemax, Code V, Lumerical, or similar).
Knowledge of optical metrology for emerging display components and ability to interpret performance data.
Understanding of human visual perception including luminance, contrast, and artifact assessments.
Ability to explore novel design approaches and contribute to innovation in next‑generation display technologies.
Experience with polarization‑based or liquid‑crystal optical components.
Familiarity with complete near‑eye display architectures and system‑level performance requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with cross‑functional teams.
