What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to support multiple vehicle manufacturing sites in the Fremont/ Bay area. The Fremont operations team drives to operate and maintain the factory of the future by overseeing the design, implementation, maintenance and operation of cutting‑edge large‑scale equipment and utility systems in support of highly innovative manufacturing processes. This individual will be the electrical subject matter expert who will be supporting projects related to plant utilities and infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
Ultimate system owner for electrical equipment, spares and material specification
Actively monitor the site through constant field walks and various data acquisition systems
Plan, coordinate, and execute complex maintenance shutdowns within fixed schedules
Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on low, medium, and high voltage systems
Generate sequenced switching orders and diagrams for all electrical equipment
Participate in the execution of start‑up and commissioning activities. Address any open issues and punch‑list items working with teams in a timely manner
Independently drive multiple projects, handling project management, construction, commissioning and sustainment of new equipment
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the industrial/utility sector as a hands‑on electrical field engineer or electrical applications engineer working on power system design, construction, commissioning, maintenance, and operation
Ability to create detailed preventive maintenance plans for switchyards, unit substations, backup power systems and electrical busway distribution while overseeing their execution
Strong understanding and working knowledge of local and national technical and safety standards and codes (NEC, NETA, NFPA, OSHA). As well as a deep understanding of NFPA 70E and NETA ECS regarding shock and arc flash safety
Excellent verbal and written skills along with the ability to effectively communicate at the executive level
Capability to work efficiently with engineers and technicians from other disciplines, as well as vendors and contractors; experience with utility level distribution ranging from commercial to industrial transmission level customers
Proficiency creating electrical schematics in CAD (AutoCAD). Ability to use 3D CAD packages such as with Revit is a plus

Expected Compensation $92,000 - $150,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
