Role Overview We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Python and experience in well-established engineering organizations. You will be responsible for designing and implementing backend systems that handle large volumes of diverse data while working closely with product and customer-facing teams to deliver high-impact solutions. This role is fully in-person, 5 days a week in San Francisco.
What You’ll Do
Design and implement scalable backend services using Python and modern web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, or FastAPI ).
Build robust data processing pipelines for large and varied datasets.
Collaborate directly with customers and product teams to understand needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Deploy and operate services in GCP , leveraging Kubernetes for orchestration and workflow management platforms (e.g., Airflow, Prefect).
Contribute to architecture discussions, mentorship, and code reviews within a high-caliber engineering team.
Demonstrate career growth through increasing scope of responsibility and promotions .
Qualifications Must-Have
5+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
Strong proficiency in Python and experience with backend web frameworks (Django or similar).
Experience working with large, varied datasets in production environments.
Hands‑on experience with GCP, Kubernetes, and workflow orchestration tools .
Background at
well-established engineering teams (Microsoft, Google, or similar).
Strong ability to collaborate with customers and product teams .
Demonstrated career trajectory through promotions or increasing role scope.
Nice-to-Have
Experience building customer-facing enterprise software.
Contributions to scaling data-heavy applications at established or growth-stage companies.
Not a Fit If
You have a history of job hopping (roles under 2 years without strong progression).
You’ve primarily worked as a contractor .
Your background is limited to internal tooling or DevOps-only roles .
