Data Consultant I (Data Analyst)

Monday – Friday, 40 hrs / wk, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Primary Purpose
Assists in translating the client’s and user’s information needs into technical solutions that maximize technology use while ensuring clear business benefits. Performs complex data analyses on large clinical and financial data files, supports the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of business solutions to optimize analytic processes and outcomes, and provides timely information that improves client offerings and business development. Independently interprets results using a variety of techniques—from simple data aggregation to complex data mining and statistical analysis—and works with clients, internal and external consultants, and project and business leaders to identify analytic requirements.
Essential Functions
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates information needs and efficiency opportunities, then creates technology‑based applications to supply those needs and produce efficiencies based on business direction.
Oversees the quality and consistency of data gathering, transforming, reporting, and analysis.
Supports and manages respective data in multiple databases.
Maintains dashboards and programs that automate solution production for scalability.
Develops analysis templates and supports processes, tools, security, and quality for client projects and business information systems.
Utilizes relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server), ETL processes (SSIS), Tableau, VBA, Python, or other programming languages; applies statistical analysis with JMP, R, Anaconda, or similar tools.
Maintains knowledge of data architecture, healthcare software, and data.
Interacts with clients through conference calls, web conferencing, and on‑site or off‑site meetings.
Seeks opportunities to advance software knowledge, data manipulation, and understanding of the healthcare industry, including attendance at conferences.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical and Other Requirements
Stooping, reaching, and mobility as required for accessing work sites and office equipment.
Effective communication with others.
Work in a biohazard laboratory environment with appropriate personal protective equipment per CDC, OSHA, and company policies.
Compliance with ARUP policies and procedures.
U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the United States.
Sedentary work with occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
Vision, fine motor control, and hearing standards necessary for task execution.
Qualifications
Education : Required: Associate’s Degree or better in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree or better in Computer Science or related field.
Experience :
Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related field, OR Associate’s degree and 2 years of applicable work experience.
Required: One year SQL experience in one or more database management programs (Microsoft, Oracle, etc.).
Required: Advanced Excel experience, including Pivot tables, add‑ins, function library familiarity, and VBA manipulation.
Preferred: One year data integration experience (ETL).
Preferred: One year experience in programming language such as VBA or Python.
Preferred: One year experience in data presentation (Tableau, PowerBI, SSRS).
Preferred: Experience in healthcare IT applications (Epic, Cerner).
Preferred: Experience using statistics to solve business problems with JMP, R, Anaconda, or similar software.
