About the Division and the Chief of Clinical Genetics Service
The Division of Solid Tumor Oncology in the Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) invites applications for Chief of the Clinical Genetics Service (CGS). MSK seeks a visionary leader to advance CGS as a national and international model for hereditary cancer risk assessment, precision prevention and the integration of cutting‑edge science into clinical care.
The Clinical Genetics Service (CGS) is a multidisciplinary team of physicians, genetic counselors and genetic counselor assistants providing comprehensive hereditary cancer risk assessment and management across MSK’s Manhattan and regional locations. With more than 6,000 outpatient visits annually, CGS is foundational to MSK’s precision prevention and early detection platforms. The next Chief will serve as a catalyst for innovation, setting a bold agenda at the vanguard of cancer genetics and genomic medicine. The selected leader will be expected to:
Champion high‑impact research and novel clinical approaches that define the future of hereditary cancer risk management and genomics‑driven care.
Drive translation of novel scientific advances into direct patient benefit, ensuring MSK remains an epicenter for innovative discovery and implementation.
Shape a high‑performing, collaborative team poised to lead, teach and mentor at the highest level in the era of rapidly evolving genetic and genomic technologies.
Reporting to the Division Head, Solid Tumor Oncology (Luis Diaz, MD), the Chief will have strategic, research, clinical and operational oversight for all aspects of CGS. This includes defining priorities for clinical excellence, rapid integration of breakthroughs, research portfolio development, talent acquisition and faculty mentorship. The Chief will lead close collaborations across MSK’s basic, translational and population science programs, ensuring CGS faculty remain global leaders in advancing precision oncology.
CGS faculty are at the forefront of clinical cancer genetics, using next‑generation sequencing, advanced risk modeling and state‑of‑the‑art prevention science to benefit patients and their families. The Service delivers personalized recommendations for surveillance, risk reduction and family assessment, supported by a robust research program spanning cancer genetics, genomic discovery, implementation science and population health.
Ideal Candidate
Be internationally recognized as an innovator and thought leader in clinical cancer genetics, with a demonstrated commitment to scientific discovery, translational research and driving the field’s evolution.
Have a track record of pioneering and implementing disruptive advances in hereditary cancer syndromes, genomics or novel precision prevention strategies.
Demonstrate sustained mentorship, scholarship and team leadership in clinical, translational, laboratory‑based or population‑based science.
Application Instructions Interested individuals should submit a brief statement of experience and research interests along with their CV to Alexander Drilon, MD (drilona@mskcc.org) and copy Valentina Salkow, MBA, Manager, Academic Recruitment (salkowv@mskcc.org).
