The Opportunity
We are seeking a
Middleware Architect
to drive the design, evolution, and adoption of cloud‑native, enterprise‑scale platforms. This role combines hands‑on technical leadership with architectural ownership, supporting rapid proof‑of‑concepts, enabling engineering teams, and shaping enterprise architecture strategy. The ideal candidate has deep experience building resilient, high‑performance systems in AWS, strong Java expertise, and the ability to influence and mentor across engineering and leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute rapid proof‑of‑concepts (POCs) to validate architectural approaches and accelerate delivery across engineering teams
Support engineers and project managers in rapid development, deployment, and operational readiness of cloud‑native solutions
Partner with VPs, Architects, and senior engineering leaders to define and maintain enterprise, platform, data, and API architectures
Design enterprise‑scale solution architectures for new initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and technology strategy
Actively participate in team‑level and enterprise‑wide architecture and engineering discussions
Introduce and promote enterprise architectural patterns, standards, and best practices across the platform portfolio
Drive both high‑level and detailed technical designs, including documentation and formal design reviews
Collaborate with cross‑functional leaders to understand and help define business principles, objectives, and long‑term strategy
Communicate architectural direction, technology strategy, and changes effectively to senior leadership
Mentor engineers and solution architects, ensuring technical concepts are clearly understood and implemented with high quality and speed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field required; Advanced degree preferred
7+ years of strong, hands‑on experience with Java and backend or middleware development
Extensive experience designing and implementing large‑scale, cloud‑native platforms with high resiliency, availability, and reliability
Proven experience building high‑throughput, high‑performance applications
Strong experience with RESTful APIs, API design, and microservices‑based architectures
Hands‑on experience working in AWS environments, including cloud networking concepts
Experience deploying and operating containerized applications using Kubernetes
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, problem‑solving, and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and influence without direct authority
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with service mesh technologies and advanced microservices patterns
Hands‑on experience with technologies including:
Java, Go, Vert.x, JavaScript, React
REST APIs, gRPC, Protobuf
Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift
CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions
Datastores including Postgres, Couchbase, Cassandra, Redis, and NoSQL platforms
Messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka and Spark
Observability and search platforms including Elastic Stack
Rules engines, data processing, or ML technologies (e.g., Drools, Spark, ML frameworks)
